Deep Origin, BioAge Launch Multi-Target AI-Driven Drug Discovery Collab

The partnership already reached its first milestone, with Deep Origin’s platform delivering hits against a BioAge target in less than three months.

Editor’s Take: Collaboration between Deep Origin and BioAge could speed drug development by using hybrid AI and physics-based models.

Deep Origin and BioAge Labs announced a multi-target, AI-driven drug discovery collaboration, a partnership that already reached its first milestone.

Namely, BioAge’s wet lab validated novel small-molecule hits identified computationally by Deep Origin against a novel BioAge target.

BioAge Mission Accelerated by AI

BioAge, a clinical-stage biopharmaceutical company, develops therapeutic product candidates for cardiometabolic diseases by targeting the biology of human aging.

The collaboration between Deep Origin and BioAge aims to speed drug development by using hybrid AI and physics-based models. With these performing computational drug discovery, the two companies can focus on novel targets.

Deep Origin’s platform delivered several structurally distinct hits against a first BioAge target in under three months. From there, BioAge is advancing that first target into hit-to-lead optimization.

Potential Payday for Deep Origin

Deep Origin is eligible to receive milestone payments based on the success of the collaboration.

Both sides reflected on the accomplishments of their partnership to date.

“BioAge finds its targets in human data, from people followed for decades,” Deep Origin Co-Founder and CEO Michael Antonov said. “Many are novel targets with little known chemistry. This is exactly the problem our virtual screening was built to solve. BioAge set a high bar for what its chemists would take forward. The molecules that we delivered give BioAge’s chemists strong starting points for optimization and position BioAge to move quickly.”

“AI can help shorten the path from human biology to new medicines,” BioAge Co-Founder and CEO Kristen Fortney, PhD, said. “This collaboration demonstrated its potential to accelerate early small molecule drug discovery. Deep Origin’s platform delivered high-quality chemical matter against a novel target in just months. We’re thrilled with what we’ve accomplished together so far and look forward to extending the work to additional targets.”
